Best kept secret!
We love Madesimo. Its compact but there's plenty of variety on the slopes. Resort is laid back with a nice selection of bars, restaurants and shops.
If you are lvisiting in peak season make sure you book lunch and dinner in advance, especially if u do not want to drive to some other nearby hamlet and prefer to stay in Madesimo’s small town Centre. If you do not manage to find a place where to eat in the evening you can go up the gondola to Larici self service restaurant. On Friday and Saturday the gondola to take you up the Larici self service is free from 7pm to around 11pm. An other alternative is the food truck next to Madesimo Ski School.
We stayed from 01/01/25 to 06/01/25 - a very busy period for Italian holiday makers. We were really impressed at the number of ski runs open given the lack of snowfall in the previous weeks. Tips: We found it difficult to find somewhere to eat in the evenings as all the hotels and their restaurants were full and there are only a couple of standalone restaurants in the village. Tommy's was excellent food and service. Otherwise try and book restaurants in advance.
The first two days of our visit were poor, and we should have been advised not to get the ski pass for those days.
What we have noticed is that the skiresort is not taking unreasonable prices, not overcharging for drinks, food and beverages, and thats why we will keep coming, its very price friendly. Next year will be the fourth year we are travelling to Madesimo and we will keep coming.
We appreciated that the hill didn't have too many people. We liked the quality of the snow and we had a tremendous time. However, the facilities are a little old and we couldn't get to the top of the mountain either.
Madesimo is a beautiful village with the ski slopes in the middle of the town. We have enjoyed our time there and will be back again.
We’ve been visiting Madesimo for 20 + years and love the relaxed and friendly environment both on and off the slopes.
Fantastic resort and great skiing
We had a great time in Madesimo. Hotel was lovely and the village has just enough life without being noisy. There was just about enough for 2 days skiing - this will be much improved when the new gondola is installed.
Authentic Italian resort but very quiet - many of the hospitality venues such as restaurants and hotels worryingly closed in the height of the season
More needs to be done to keep the après-ski alive.
We love Madesimo!
We love Madesimo. It's a small friendly resort but enough for us to ski. There are a number of supermarkets, good restaurants and plenty of car parking areas during the week. Regular bus service to Chiavenna opens up a lot more shopping opportunities.
Fantastic resort for a short ski break.
Madesimo is a beautiful town and all the interconnected skiing slopes make for a wonderful experience. I had the misfortune of visiting during a rather warm week when there was snow only on the slopes themselves and it was a bit frozen. But regardless, it was a lot of fun. There are multiple nice restaurants to go to with great pizza and desserts. Walking around the area is lovely on its own. I did find the slopes a bit confusing. Although we received a map, I would have appreciated if there were clearer signs marking which slope is which and how difficult it is at important crossroads where we have to choose a direction. As for tips for tourists, if you are a beginner I absolutely recommend the slope that is right next to this very rental place. Best place to start. And after you feel more confident, you can move to the bigger slope which is also right next to it.

Love Madesimo and it’s friendly people. Would like to see a way of getting back from Motta to Madesimo without skiing for the less experienced.
A well kept secret ...
Madesimo is an excellent little ski resort. Good runs on the slopes and a nice town with a good range of cafes and restaurants, we have been twice in the last four years.
Madesimo is beautiful. Ski slopes are crazy amazing, wide slopes and full of fun. Lots of sun and snow! Easy access to gondola and lifts.
Busy at weekends but quiet during the week. Lots of bars on the slopes. Good for wide reds. Not much in the way of blacks etc.
Small resort with limited runs but it grew on me. Lifts and pistes a bit badly managed. 13 lifts and they are never all open, regardless of the weather conditions. Amazingly quiet during the week. A nice, friendly little town somewhat let down by the ski area management.

Very good. It is a bit old and tiny bit wiffy, but then again it’s a ski rental place with hundreds of used ski boots...! Only issue is their admin where they don’t keep proper / uptodate records of who has paid what.
chair lifts at the bottom of the slopes aren't connected! you have to remove ski and walk on the street to the lift beside it which makes no sense! if you want to try the runs at the top you have to take a gondola, a chair lift and then an antique gondola (extremely slow so you have to wait for the only 2 gondola to come), then walk 5 mins with your skis through a tunnel. when you finally got up there, there are only 3 short red runs. no worth the effort. the design of the resort is no good. the village is also boring and there are too little restaurants which are all packed we have to beg for a table! i won't be returning to madesimo.
Loved this resort and even during half term February week the lift queues were minimal. We skied the area in a week - good mixture of blues and reds. A bit more marking of the pistes ie colours and numbers wouldn't go amiss but we soon found our way around and excellent food and service up at Larici restaurant - freshly made pizza not to be missed!

Ben organizzata, funzionale
Pochi hotel, pochi ristoranti ,pochi negozi. Paese lontano anni luce dalle più note località sciistiche quali Bormio, Madonna di Campiglio, Livigno, Cortina Courmayeur . Peccato perché potrebbe essere una miniera d' oro.

Impianti ben organizzati e fluidi
Quantità e qualità dei servizi ricettivi (hotel, ristoranti, rifugi sulle piste) bassa e prezzi comunque alti
Ottimi impianti e curati
Per i principianti la pista Arlecchino è quella consigliata (con seggiovia comunque)… Per il resto le varie zone dell’impianto sono collegate da piste molto spesso ghiacciate e non alla portata dei principianti… Senno raggiungibili con un quarto d’ora a piedi via strada per cambiare ingresso (ovovia o lago azzurro).. In cui comunque si hanno dei fine piste abbastanza importanti.
Il comprensorio è piccolo ma ottimo per 1-2gg di attività sportive.
Tutto organizzato bene, il problema più grande lo abbiamo avuto per il parcheggio: servirebbe più spazio/ autosilos
Piste idonee allo sciatore esperto, mal collegate quelle per il principiante.

In settimana é piacevolissima, ottimi impianti di risalita, buona organizzazione degli impianti di innevamento artificiale, Larici e Acquarela 2 ristori davvero top. Il weekend diventa ovviamente molto caotica é ci sta, ma la quantitá di incoscienti che sciano ubriachi sta diventando davvero eccessiva, tanto che Domenica abbiamo evitato di sciare.
Raggiingibile e con le piste che arrivano nel paese. Il problema è la scarsa manutenzione degli impianti e piste

La pista arlecchino è super per i principianti, le altre belle ma alcune strette e più adatte allo sci che alla tavola, nel complesso bello
Quest'anno un pochino meno "curate" le piste causa poca neve. Personale seggiovia arlecchino stragentili soprattutto con i più piccoli e attenti. Maestri sci molto bravi
Ottimo per i bimbi che iniziano a sciare possibilità di fare biglietto con risalite alla sola pista arlecchino maestri molto bravi.

Poche piste azzurre e persino queste diventano rosse e non sono segnalate.
L’unico problema è che le piste blu si collegano sempre a rosse/nere, per cui il mio amico che era principiante ha avuto difficoltà e seguire i percorsi. Il resto esperienza stupenda.
Consiglio per i bambini e soprattutto scuola sci Madesimo!

Quest'anno un pochino meglio e spero sia un trend di inversione rispetto agli ultimi anni. Come detto vengo a Madesimo da quando sono nato, le piste non sono tantissime, ma sono meravigliose. Recentemente ho assistito a un impoverimento dell'offerta turistica: la Val di Lei, cavallo di battaglia con piste lunghe e sempre innevate perfettamente, è stata oggetto di chiusure continue. Forse per questioni di sicurezza, ma dubito che la nebbia sia un pericolo estremo. Anni fa, prima dell'avvento dell'ovovia dei Larici, con la cabina funivia obsoleta, l'apertura della val di Lei era una certezza quotidiana: si andava sempre, in ogni condizione. Idem sul Canalone quando ancora era una pista nera, prima che venisse definito un fuoripista. Sarà forse più sicuro, ma io mi divertivo di più prima.
Buona cura delle piste e scelta varie per la difficoltà, adatta sia a principianti sia a esperti, una pecca un po' elevato il costo dello skipass

Bellissima località che frequento da tanti anni, strutture alberghiere buone peccato non ci sia molto parcheggio per gli hotel in centro e si è costretti a quello a pagamento.
Piste ben tenute anche se non sempre tutti gli impiamti sono aperti causa condizioni climatiche. Paese grazioso e raccolto. Ottimo per famiglie con bambini!
Località molto carina per un weekend
MADESIMO CI E' PIACIUTA TANTO PERCHE' TUTTO E' RAGGIUNGIBILE A PIEDI IN 5 MINUTI: STAZIONE SCIISTICA, IMPIANTI DI RISALITA, NEGOZI, BAR E RISTORANTI, TUTTI SUL CORSO CENTRALE DELLA CITTADINA. MOLTO INDICATO PER FAMIGLIE CON BAMBINI
Un pò caro il prezzo dello skypass giornaliero e il fatto di dover pagare una tessera, che dovrebbe essere a fondo cauzionale/rimborsabile, come previsto dalla Regione, che invece rimane a carico dell'acquirente e rimane l'unico modo per acquistare biglietti online o per ottenere sconti.

Madesimo, come tutta la Valchiavenna, permette di godersi la montagna e la vita di montagna, con un'ottima cucina a poche ore dalla città.
Molto bella come stazione sciistica, un po' troppo cara per il portafoglio degli avventori.
Avrebbe bisogno di nuove attrezzature per e nella Val di Lei

Un discrteto numero di piste per tutti i gusti. Bello e comodo...
Pur essendo tutte le piste aperte, la varietà dei percorsi è decisamente monotona e lo stato di manutenzione delle piste stesse assolutamente inadeguato. a dimostrazione di quanto scrivo nell'arco di tutto il week end non ho avuto modo di vedere un solo "pisten bully" prendersi cura delle piste nel corso della giornata.
Paesino carino, bellissimo paesaggio. Piste non troppo facili per chi è alle prime armi. Organizzazione fantastica per impianti e punto di ristoro Larici.
Troppo affollamento, troppa gente maleducata sulle piste che passa a pochi centimetri dagli altri sciatori a velocità folli

Nel periodo di Sant'Ambrogio troppe piste chiuse nonostante lo skypass era a prezzo intero davvero deludente
Ottima, piste tenute bene, varia scelta e per tutti gli sciatori dai principianti ai più esperti. L'unico Neo sono i Prezzi degli abbonamenti.
La conoscevo già,in quell'occasione però impianti chiusi circa 2/3 ma prezzo dello skipass invariato.
Il paese è carino e la posizione ottima per lo sci, le piste partono dal paese e sono di varie difficoltà; lo spettacolo delle montagne che lo circondano è incantevole

Der Ort ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Die Anfahrt nach Campodolcino ist schneller und man hat weniger Serpentinen. Eine Niederlassung in Campodolcino wäre optimal.
Madesimo un bellissimo posto per fare snowboard, meglio salire un po' di quota

Great skiing and friendly staff
A typical Italian ski resort which has maintained its authentic feel. Plenty of great skiing for all & excellent for children. Pistes well maintained, with safety at the forefront of all decisions. Madesimo has a relaxed & secure feel about it. I always have a brilliant ski experience when there. Not spoiled by some tourist mentality!
