Lovely ski area spoilt by old lift equipment and random lift closures

The location is very preety, lot's of restaurants and bars. For skiing - sub optimal. Accomodations are very far from the lifts, paying for parking is really uncomfortable, and half the machines don't work. Sadly, the authorities still give you parking fines, even thought there is no option for payment. If you are a begginer in ski/snowboard - very hard routes only, not suitable.

Sauze was good, we were lucky as there were some good snowfalls during the week. Lower slopes however cut up badly later in the day and needed better prep Ski’d over the tops to Montgenevre one day where the slopes were better.

Lovely place!

Leuk skigebied, lekker eten op de piste en in het dorp. Nadeel dat de liften vaak stil liggen of zelfs niet open zijn waardoor je vaak beperkt bent in het skiën. Via Lattea moet dringend investeren in hun infrastructuur.

Love the area

5th time returning skier

Resort would benefit from upgrading lift infrastructure and widening of some of the pistes. Nice town and atmosphere!

Sauze is a good ski resort, with lots of ski runs, for intermediate to expert skier. Some of the lifts are old and need to be modernised, especially the small two seater chair lifts. The apres ski i as good in various bars and hotels.

A charming village with a lovely atmosphere, do book ahead if you want to eat out.

I enjoyed sauze but will be more careful about getting receipts in the bars.

Charming old town with plenty of eating options and great value. Slopes limited before Christmas so beware.

The resort was lovely with great restaurants and bara. However we were visiting to ski and were disappointed that only 8 runs of 79 were open. There seemed to be plenty of snow so we can only assume it was to minimise costs in the early season.

Lift system too old and slow

Lifts are old, slow and cramped. Slopes are ok.

Great ski area, beautiful town

Excellent ski area - something for everyone and all abilities. Great on-piste restaurants and bars and great value all round.

Love the food. Love the people. The lifts could be better maintained and open more regularly.

Sauze is an excellent resort, but is in desperate need of investment in the infrastructure (ski lifts etc) There are too many drag lifts and a slow 2 person chair lift to the other parts of the milky way is very unsatisfactory.

Lovely resort. Sadly snow not so good this week.

Mostly the people were charming in bars and restaurants The bus driver was excellent and helped with a problem we had and I would recommend the bus to avoid a long walk up hill to the Sportinia lift The ski lifts are very old and need updating Considering the warm weather and poor quality of the snow they did well to have as much skiing as we did

The lift systems were very slow. Although there was a lack of snow, we didn't see snow being generated once - it was freezing weather so it should be possible. Lift no 34/35 stopped before the other lifts, even though it was one of the most central lifts. The restaurants in the ski-area are really good and are one of the reasons why we come again and again :-) As well as your ski rental :-)

Great destination with good nightlife and restaurants. Extensive skiing with good links to other ski resorts

Best ski experience yet. Top hotel monte triplex on the slopes at sportinia. Super preparation of the pistes. Great food. See you next time!

A very characterful town with a good buzz and great slopes

lack of investment into the chair lifts and snow machines. But otherwise nice resort

Great skiing above Sportinia. Due to the snow conditions the final slope to the resort was in poor condition, but when conditions are good it is great to be able to ski all the way down. The bar's and restaurants are fantastic with lovely, attentive staff who are always very welcoming and friendly.

Staying lower in the village, a more regular and later bus service would be welcome.

Excellent. Lovely village with lots of bars and restaurants for apre ski but also lovely during the summer months. There are dog friendly areas so the children's playing areas are kept clean.

I realy like the skiing available and the general vibe of the town. I've visited the resort half a dozen times and keep coming back.

Lovely location, good skiing most of the time. New years can be dangerous as a lot of young undesirables travel to Sauze from Turin and other places to cause problems.

This was out first time skiing in Sauze d'Oulx. It is a lovely resort with an attractive old village center with cobbled streets and a good range of bars and restaurants for all tastes. The town is built on the side of a hill and many of the streets are very steep. We were staying in the lower part of Sauze and therefore it was a big leg workout to go the the mid or higher parts. There is good skiing with links to Sestriere and the rest of the Vialattea (Milky Way) ski area. Due to the slightly lower altitude of the resort (approx. 1500 m) some of the runs to the the bottom may not be open if there is insufficient snow. However, lifts can be used to descend.

Lively wee town with lots of food and drink options

Lovely area. Sadly the snow was pretty icy and as the season only start on the 23rd December, there were not many slopes open.

I really enjoyed Sauze as a resort. Even though it was the end of season there were still a good selection of bars and restaurants open. Snow conditions were poor when we were there but I think all of Europe has had a challenging season and I don’t believe it is normally like that. Ski lifts were quite slow and dated and so if there was one improvement I’d recommend for the resort it would be to invest in the chairlifts.

the place is amazing at very reasonable price

It is a ski shop - not loads of clothes

Lovely place, great skiing, lovely people.

Sauze is a lovely village with real character and a wide range of bars and restaurants. The slopes are a little more difficult to get to than some other resorts I’ve been too and it’s not the easiest for complete beginners to access. It also seemed to be trying too hard to replicate the loud apres parties renowned in larger French and Austrian resorts with central bars pumping out music which detracted a little from its charisma as an old village.

Great resort but difficult walk back to Chalet Chez Nous

We stayed and skied 5 days mostly in Sestriere. We only skied a few times towards Sauze D'oulx. We had a great family vacation.

Excellent skiing resort for intermediate and advanced skiers. Lovely small contry village with a ambient atmosphere. Jouvencheaux are for these prefering a quiet evening and night - Sauze is for those enjoing afterskiing and evening activities. This our first but not last trip to Sauze D'Oulx

We love Sauze, but may have to go elsewhere next year as the number of beginner to almost intermediate slopes is quite low (especially beginner)a nd our group need more variety to learn further without over stretching their skills. We will see, the lure of Sauze may be too much to resist!

As mention hired from Sestriere but skied Sauze and all of the Via Lattea

We like Sauze D'Oulx. It is a particularly good resort for intermediates while prodiving good slopes to learn on and some excellent off piste options for advanced skiers. We stayed in Sportinia in one of the three hotels located there. The location is perfect for in - out skiing and the views are to die for. Apres Ski in the Orso Bianco is very good but at around 17.30 the area becomes quiet as the majority of people head down the mountain. If you want to spend the evening in the main Sauze D'Oulx village, the last lift down is at 16.30. You will then need to hire a skidu to come back up the mountain at c€20-25 per head. We drove to the resort from Turin airport which takes 90mins. Once in Sauze you can park for free in parking bays marked in white. The bays nearer the lifts are marked in blue and there is a parking charge for these. Our only criticism is that quite a few of the lifts and runs were closed. We felt this was to maintain the slopes for the main Italian holiday periods and reduce costs of running the resort. We were there from the 20-26 Jan 2023 and at times there were only 5 main lifts running. All in all we would definitely go back. This is a great resort and prices are a little lower than in France, Switzerland and Austria.

Extensive skiing, although a shame a few more runs weren't open
Always a great place to go, and must be one of the best value ski resorts in Western Europe.
